A Little Distracted

As some of you might or might not know about me is that I am a World of Warcraft player. I have been playing since 2008. I have been there since the end of Wrath Of The Lich King. I main a death knight on horde and a hunter on alliance. I am bifactional. This past Tuesday (or a Monday depending on where you live in the world) a new expansion pack was released – Battle For Azeroth. Being the good little death knight I have done pretty much nothing besides being an adult (chores, dinner, etc) stuff, sleeping if the pain lets me, & leveling characters in World of Warcraft. I thought it would be a few days of constant gaming then it would slow down a bit and i would get back into my crafting. Yeah that all changed when I decided to say hell with it and pvp (player versus player) with Grace. I hadn’t pvp’d in dps spec ever. I used to heal on my paladin in pvp. Then I forced to take a 2 yeear break until like 3-4 years ago. I came back played through a few expansions. Last night I got my priest all figured out pretty much and healed in pvp with my priest instead of one of my paladins.

What I am trying to say is I am consumed with pvping. And it is all Grace’s fault. Last expansion she got us to main alliance for most of it. This time we are back horde and pvping. I am sure if she could get Hev to pvp with us she would be Queen Of The World.

I will be able to be contacted through the contact form, comments, & email but I will be taking a bit to get back to you. Those who have signed up to be pattern testers I have your contact forms saved and have read through them. Expect contact in a few weeks as that is when the next square pattern will be started to be tested. If you have experience testing sock patterns can you please refill the form out & put in the comments SOCK TESTING. Before the new expansion for WoW dropped I designed a sock that I haven’t seen before and want to get it done & tested by the US Thanksgiving so that I can release it December 1st of this year.

So all in all this post is to let you know I will be slow in responding. I will be on time for Mish Mash next month. I will be working on the current test of next months pattern with the testers. You will be getting an email next month for Octobers square as I have Septembers square already out being tested. If I come up with a design before then I will email all that have signed up to be pattern testers. Please do not loose faith in me. I love you all for helping & willing to help. I am just consumed by my one vice and when I get my in game life figured out (leveling, how the new lands and factions work, etc) I will be back to answering right away within the week.

Edited to add: I have been thinking of recognizing those that have tested my patterns consistently. You don’t have to test every pattern but when you do you do what I ask and on time. I haven’t quite decided how I am going to do that besides gifting the patterns you tested. I was thinking of adding a page to the site listing who they are. Let me know what you think.

It’s Been A Long Month So Far

I haven’t posted a thing on the sire since I posted July’s Mish Mash square. While that in itself is not unusual – it has been a busy month for me. Before we really get going let me explain something about myself.

When I was younger my Mom would make me go spend time with her ex (was my step dad at the time) and my Uncle. Being a girl I probably should have been playing with dolls – which I did – but the time I spent with them was when they where working on cars or houses. I was the designated light holder. I was always the type of person to learn by having things explained to me as to what was going on and reading about it. Watching it be done just reinforced what I learned. This being said I was able to rebuild parts in a car (engines, etc) and could repair almost anything non electrical on a house. Over time I was able to do these things on my own but it was hard because of my hands. I’ve had a problem with my hands since I was 15. I kept going until recently. These past few years my hands have prevented me from being industrious (I don’t know if that is the correct word but it’s how I think of it). We have learned that I have Carpel Tunnel Syndrome which is more then likely a side effect of my newly diagnosed Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) according to the neurologist I saw last year. I got medicine for my RA and this past 2 weeks I could be industrious and do something! I was able to replace the kitchen faucet. You might not think this is a big idea but after how I grew up and how I liked to repair my own things this is a huge deal! It made me feel like I was worth something finally after a few years of thinking I was basically worthless. By no means are my hands in any shape to do the amount of work they did before they got really bad but to do something – anything – that I used to be able to do is awesome. Now if my back would stop hurting enough to be comfortable I would be better. My back will never get better from what I have been reading so I try not to think about it.

Most of the month I have been trying to learn how to deal with my back pain. It’s a new pain that won’t go away so I need to learn how to function with it. Some days though I just can’t walk and I have no idea how I even can get out of bed. I have Degenerative Disc Disease. I have gained weight because I can’t do anything most days. And no it’s not because I eat more. Sometimes I force myself to eat as the pain makes me feel nauseous. I eat just enough so my body doesn’t think I am starving it. Starving yourself is not a good thing – your body will stop yourself from shedding fat – just in case you didn’t know that tidbit.

Then we have the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion coming on August 14th. They have announced a simultaneous release around the world so North America gets it August 13th. I have spent the last month getting my toons situated for the xpac. I have decided my death knight Grëtchën & my hunter Ásta will be my ‘mains’. I need one each side as I an bifactional. If they ever let the achievement for number of factions you are exalted with be account wide I would main a hunter on both sides. Grëtchën is exalted with 60 factions and I am not going to go through all that on anyone else. It’s a lot of work and some of those factions I worked on for 10 years off and on. I have achieved 2 things I wanted to this past week as well in game. First after 8 years of running Setthek Halls I finally got the Raven Lord mount. I would literally rage quit some days after running that dungeon on all my toons that could and it wouldn’t drop. It was amazing and I had no idea what to do with myself afterwards. The 2nd thing I accomplished was getting the last class mount. For those who don’t know in Legion each class got a mount that was supposed to represent their class. I decided I needed all 12 class mounts. Last week I finished that. I wanted to get it done before Battle For Azeroth and I did.

I know I haven’t posted about any of my finish objects either since April. Well I think it was April. Either way it’s been awhile. I will do it next month as I plan on posting them on even months. Not much has gotten done either. I have also ordered Herrschners Afghan 8 yarn to finish my 6 baby blanket project I started years ago. I will post about that when it is done. It is somewhat emotional and it has recently occurred to me it no longer matters if it got done. I will get it done though. I am also designing a messenger bag. I have no idea if I will publish the pattern but I have it being written up in case I want to. The next thing ot get published with be August’s Mish Mash square or a 12 inch square I designed in honor of a person I loved as a child. I do have all squares ready for the Mish Mash KCAL. I just need to design the border and it’s done.

It seems I have ended up rambling. The past few days I have been preoccupied with the Cranston Fire in Southern California. Watching to see if it starts coming my way. Where it started was about a half hour away from me up the mountain behind me. I hope it doesn’t come this way as I have never been involved with a fire ever.

Yet Another WoW Post

World of Warcraft is a big part of my life so I probably will post frequently about it. If you don’t like it I’m sorry. I get so much inspiration for my square designs from WoW though.

I have been thinking a lot about the life of my characters on WoW. I thought it would be interesting to see if I could remember all their names and servers they have been on. So here is a list of what I can remember. Grëtchën and Käresta are my oldest toons. Käresta is my very first toon while Grëtchën is my second oldest and my main.

Grëtchën – Death Knight

  • Started as Sorina on the Tanaris server as a Blood Elf on the Horde.
  • Moved to Draenor server & renamed Jemmie.
  • Faction changed to the alliance & race changed to a Draenei.
  • Faction changed back to the Horde & race changed to a Troll.
  • Server moved to Madoran & race changed back to Blood Elf & changed her name to Sanngridr.
  • Server moved to Thrall & renamed Grëtchën.

Ásta – Hunter

  • Started on the Draenor server as a Goblin on the Horde named Heartskull.
  • Faction changed to the Alliance & became a Draenei with a name change to Ana.
  • Faction changed back to Horde as a Blood Elf & name changed her to Aña.
  • Server change to Madoran.
  • Faction changed her to Draenei & name changed to Ásta.

Holyknit – Priest

  • Started on the Draenor server as a Goblin on the Horde named Unnknownn.
  • Server change to Madoran & name changed to Sorina.
  • Server change to Thrall & name changed to Holyknit.

Hammond – Druid

  • Started on the Misha server as a Night Elf on the Alliance named Knittery.
  • Moved to the Draenor server/
  • Faction changed to Horde & race changed to Tauren with a name change to Dutchessmoo.
  • Server move to Madoran.
  • Faction change to Alliacne & back to Night Elf with the name Hammond.

Lenae – Paladin

  • Started on the Draenor server as a Draeni for the Alliance as Lenae.
  • Faction changed to Blood Elf for the Horde.
  • Server move to Madoran.
  • Faction changed back to Draenei for the Alliance.

Kyla – Mage

  • Faction changed to the Horde as a Blood Elf & renamed to Bamzi.
  • Server moved to Dawnbringer & name changed to Kyla.
  • Faction changed back to Alliance as a Draenei.

Käresta – Warlock

  • Started on the Tanaris server as an Undead for the Horde named Teranca.
  • Server moved to Draenor server.
  • Server moved to Madoran server.
  • Faction changed to Alliance as a Dwarf & renamed Käresta.

Sygny – Monk

  • Started on the Draenor server as an Undead for the Horde named Valica.
  • Server moved to the Madoran server.
  • Faction changed to Alliance as a Draeni & renamed to Sygny.

Elska – Demon Hunter

  • Started on the Madroan server as a Blood Elf for the Horde.
  • Faction changed to the alliance as a Night Elf.

Ástríðr – Shaman

  • Started on the Dawnbringer server as a troll for the Horde.
  • Faction changed to the Alliance as a Draenei & renamed to Ástríðr.

All my other toons are on the servers they started on and haven’t been through any faction or server moves for their entire ‘lives’. I have spent around $450 on faction changes and around $325 on server changes. Throw in a few appearance and name changes and I have spent around $800-$850 in the last 9 years for this game. I haven’t included the in store purchases for mounts and pets for myself or others. Nor have I counted the tokens I have bought for gold when I started playing again 3 years ago. I say with all that though I have spent nearly $1000 in total. That is not counting the $15 a mont subscription fee. I have no idea if I can even fathom how much that would be alone – even with the 2 year break I took.
