ASSEMBLY

It is time to assemble the blanket! The chart on the below is how I placed my squares before putting them together. You can place your squares however you want. If you made more then 8 of each square you can still place the squares alternating. This blanket was designed to add more squares to make it bigger – so more squares are totally fine! Remember this is just the basics I have provided you to make a 30”x30” baby blanket. Use your imagination and have fun!

Step 1: Take 2 squares and face them with right sides together. The right sides of the squares are the sides that where facing you when you made the squares. Starting in the corner ch sps you will be
working through both squares join CA with a sc, sc through back loops of the next 24 sts, sc in next ch sp. Finish off. Do this with all squares in a strip 4 squares attached is a strip. You should now have 4 strips.

Step 2: With 2 strips face them with right sides together. Starting at the corner ch sps you will still be working through both strips, join CA with a sc, [sc in next 24sts, sc in next 2 ch sps] 3 times, sc in next 24
sts, sc in next ch sp, Finish Off. Do this for the next 2 strips. You now should have a blanket without a border. If you need help figuring out the corners they are the ch2 sps that where not worked in at all.

BORDER

Border Round 1 – hdc2tog

Round 1: Join CA with a sc in any ch2 sp that isnt worked in it will be the corner of the blanket, 2sc in same sp, * ([sc in next 24 sts, sc in next ch sp, hdc2tog over both ch sps, sc in next ch sp] 3 times, sc in next 24 sts), 3sc in next ch sp * 3 times, then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to 1st st. Finish Off. 408Sc 12 hdc2tog
Round 2: Join CB with a standing dc in any middle sc of 3sc group from prev rnd, dc, ch2, 2dc in same st, * (dc in next 107 sts), 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next st * 3 times then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st in beg dc. Finish Off. 428dc, 4 ch2 sps
Round 3: Join CA with a standing hdc in any ch2 sps, hdc, ch2, 2hdc in same sp, * (bpdc in next 111 sts), 2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in xh sp * 3 times, then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st in beg hdc. Finish Off. 444bpdc, 16hdc, 4 ch2 sps

Round 4: Join CB with a sc in any ch2 sp, 2sc in same sp, * (sc in next 115 sts), 3sc in next sp * 3 times, then ( ) once more. Join with a sl st to 1st sc. Finish Off. 472sc

MAKING THE BLANKET BIGGER

At this point you should have a 30” x 30” baby balnket. If you don’t or you want more border and you don’t want to add more squares repeat round 3 alternating colors between CA & CB until you get the size you want. Then do round 5 to finish it off.

If you want to add more squares you can. The border is very simple to extend. The 1st round is basic sc with 3sc in each corner. The 2nd round is basic dc with 2dc, ch2, 2dc in each corner. The 3rd round is bpdc around each st of the prev rnd & 2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in the corners. If you add more to the border you will repeat round 3. When you are satisfied with the size of your border or don’t want to add more you will do round 4 – sc in each st with 3sc in the corners.
