PUTTING IT TOGETHER:

You will be working through both loops on both top of mushroom cap and bottom of mushroom cap.
Don’t stuff too full so you can ‘shape’ the mushroom cap.

Sc in each st around until 5 sts are left to work through. Stuff with fiber fill. Sc through last 5 sts. Finish off and weave in all ends.

SHAPING THE MUSHROOM CAP:

Turn the mushroom upside down in the palm of your hand. Put your thumb on the bottom of the stalk. Press down on the stalk so it looks like its going into the mushroom cap. Let go and turn it right side up. It should look like the cap is over the sides of the bottom of the cap.

MUSHROOM SPECS: I know they are not called specs. Specs is just easier then calling them Ascomycetes.
I have come up with 2 specs. They are totally optional and you can do whichever ones you want to.

WHOLE SPEC:
This will be worked continuously. Do not join rounds. Mark the beginning of each round to keep track.
Round 1: With C1 ch2, 6sc in 2nd ch from hook. 6sc
Round 2: 2sc in each st around. 12Sc Finish off and leave tail. Sew on to top of mushroom cap.

HALF SPEC:

This will be worked flat – or back and forth NOT in a continuously or in the round.
Row 1: With C1 ch2, 4sc in 2nd ch from hook. 4Sc
Row 2: turn, ch1 does NOT count as a st, 2sc in each st across.
Row 3: put flat side on round you did when putting top & bottom of cap together, sl st 5st evenly across to other side of flat side of spec. Finish off. Leave long tail for sewing and sew round side of spec to top of cap.
