What You Need:
small amounts (1oz or more) of 3 colors of worsted weight yarn (will be CA, CB, & CC in pattern)
Size F crochet hook
tapestry needle
Special Stitches
tr corner: 2 triple crochets, chain 1, 2 triple crochets in same stitch or space
dc corner: 2 double crochets, chain 2, 2 double crochets in same stitch or space
sc corner: 3 single crochets in same stitch or space
fpdc: Yarn over, insert hook from front to back to front around post of corresponding stitch below, yarn over and pull up loop [yarn over, draw through 2 loops on hook] 2 times.
dc3tog: [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 3 times (4 loops on hook), yarn over, draw through all loops on hook
dc4tog: [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops] 4 times, yarn over, draw through all loops on hook
To Start: With CA ch5, join w/ a ss to 1st ch to make a loop
Round 1: ch3, 15dc in loop. Join w/ a ss to top of beg ch3 (16dc)
Round 2: ch3, dc in same stitch as joining, 2dc in each stitch around. Join w/ a ss to top of beg ch3.(32dc)
Round 3: ch3, dc3tog (counts as first ‘petal’), ch5, * dc4tog, ch5 * 7 times FINISH OFF (8 petals made)
Round 4: Join CB in any ch5 sp w/ a sc, 4sc in same sp, ch 2, * 5sc in next sp, ch2 * around. Join w/ ass to 1st sc. (40sc & 8 ch2 sp)
Round 5: ch3, dc next 4 sts, 3dc in ch2 sp, * dc next 5 sts, 3dc in ch2 sp* 7 times. (64dc)
Round 6: ch4, tr, ch1, 2tr in same sp.* (tr in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 2 sts, sc in next 3 sts, hdc in next 3 sts, dc in next 3 sts, 1tr in next st), tr corner next stitch * 3 times then ( ) once more. Join w/ a ss to top of beg ch4. (76 sts & 4 ch1 sps)
Round 7: Join CB in any corner sp, dc, ch2, 2dc in same sp. * (Dc next 2 sts, {ch1, sk1, dc next st} 7 times, dc next st), dc corner * 3 times then ( ) once. Join w/ a ss to toop of beg ch3. FINISH OFF (60dc, 32 ch1 sp, 4 ch2 sp)
Round 8: Join CC in any corner sp w/ a sc, 2sc in same sp. *( sc next 4 sts, {dc in skipped st from round
8 (make sure the ch1 is behind your work – you are not working this st), sc in next st} 8 times, sc next 3 sts), dc corner * 3times then ( ) once. Join w/ a ss to 1st sc. FINISH OFF (72 sc, 32dc)
Round 9: Join CA in middle sc of any sc corner from previous rnd w/ a ss. Ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same st, * dc next 5, ( {fpdc next st (dc of prvious rnd), dc in next st} 8 times, dc next 4 sts), dc corner * 3 times then ( ) once. Join w./ a ss in top of beg ch3. FINISH OFF (84dc & 32fpdc)
Round 10: Join CB in an corner sp w/ a sc, 2 sc in same sp, (sc in next 7 sts, {fpdc next st (dc of previous rnd) sc in next st} 8 times, sc next 6 sts), sc corner * 3 times then ( ) once. Join w/ a ss in 1st sc. FINISH OFF (96sc, 32fpdc)
If you use a “G” or a “H” hook round 11 may have brought you to 9 inches. Please measure before continuing.
Round 11: Join CC in any middle sc of sc corner from previous rnd w/ a ss, ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same st.* (dc next 31 sts), dc corner in next st.* 3 times then ( ) once. Join w/ a ss to top of beg ch3. FINISH OFF (140 dc & 4 ch2 sp)
Weave in all ends.
