Hanger Cover

FINISHED SIZE & GAUGE:
1 piece (side) made should stretch enough to be able to reach the middle of the plastic hanger where the hook is.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Worsted weight yarn in one color – or scraps
Size H (5mm) crochet hook
Tapestry needle
regular plastic clothes hanger

STITCHES USED:
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain(s)


Make 2 pieces!


DIRECTIONS:
round 1: ch4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch4 (12dc)
round 2: ch3, 2dc in same stitch. ch1, skip 2 stitches. * 3dc in next st, ch1, skip 2 sts * around. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3.
round 3: ch3, 2dc in same stitch. *ch1, 3dc in next ch1 sp* around. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3.
round 4: repeat round 3
round 5: This round is the increase round. sl st to next ch1 space. ch3, 2dc in same sp, ch1, 3dc in same sp * ch1, 3dc in next ch1 sp * around. Join with a sl st to top of beg ch3.
rounds 6-14: repeat rounds 3-5 three times or as many as needed. It does not matter which round you end on as long as both pieces made are the same.
round 15: ch1, sc in same as joining. sc in each st & ch1 space around. Join with a sl st to top of beg sc. FINISH OFF with 2 yards of tail (for sewing later) on one, the other finish off & weave in ends.

ASSEMBLING HANGER COVER
Put both pieces on hanger. Take tail and thread tapestry needle. Going though both pieces,
but ononly ONE side whipstitch around on both sides & around head of hanger. Secure tail
tightly & weave in through other stitches. Cut tail.
